About Me
Gang Sun works in BMW China as Expert User Experience Research and leads lab working group. Gang defined his leadership style by being generic and positive, distributing work fairly, and empowering workers, to the extent possible, to make their own decisions.
With more than 10-year working experience, Gang has participated various projects with different roles, from project management of UX Lab development to product owner of China Driving Simulation development, from customer research study management to developer of different prototypes, from an engineer for global HMI summative usability test to tester for VCU platform of Battery Electronic Vehicle. Gang has technically lead a number of usability studies, customer research and heuristic evaluation to verify connected car functionalities, HMI, infotainment, navigation, gesture, in-car AI, HAD and other futuristic topics. Especially, Gang has established User Experience lab for BMW China by handling dozens of different tasks.
Along with the progress at work, Gang has also developed personal hobbies and at the moment is investigating and investing Blockchain, programing, personal brand marketing, studying self-driving car on Udacity.com, reading, making music and video, and DIYing electronics.
Gang is self-motivated, analytical and flexible, team working spirit, has problem-solving and leadership skills.

As the supervisor of User Experience Lab, monitored and directed new labs development, originated procurement, managed lab facility and equipment, guided suppliers sourcing.
Headed User Experience Lab working group, set goals and evaluated task achievement, mentored both internal and external colleagues in working group.
Supervised prototyping work: planned and created prototypes, developed test benches and devices (Android Mockup, driving simulation on Linux OS, car retrofitting, VR/MR, data collection system (audio, video, protocols)) for UX research and validation to support HMI development.
Investigated the feasibility of UX test and technically planned the test setup according to different test requirements, completed 30 UX tests as the technical lead.
Initiated the communications with UX researchers from Munich, Shanghai and Asia, and projected, coordinated and completed User Experience development and test standards.
Assistant Manager of Electronic Product Offer, 2017-2019
Designed electronic product requirement research lab (300 sqm with 7 functions), including the work of requirement analysis, feasibility report, layout definition, function breakdown. And eventually implemented and validated the lab.
Investigated OBU technical requirement by research on comparison of existing OS in the market.
Managed and developed test simulation environment project (Unity + Rift) based on VR technology.
Planned, designed and managed several prototyping car projects based on the real road test requirements for navigation, HAD and entertainment system.
As the responsible for driving simulation environment, assessed the specialty of China practical traffic situation, suggested the localization requirement (3D modelling and driving behaviors), developed and operated driving simulation (Vires ROD + Matlab + 3D MAX).
Senior Specialist of E/E testing , 2014-2016
Developed rapid prototyping VCU based on test requirement, including CAN2Lin gateway, steering wheel controller, roof controller, seat controller.
Prepared HMI test environment, including facility, IT system, mockup, data measurement system.
Supervised electronic lab and improved the facility and the process of lab operation by analysis of test requirement.
Completed the procurement and logistics of diverse devices and materials for the lab.

Administered software testing department, organized and planned the department, especially drafted the portfolio model for testing engineer of different levels.
Coached test engineer to define HIL, MIL, SIL test setup.
Developed VCU automatic EOL test system with Chroma based on the requirement of 32-bit VCU platform.
After Foton MIDI BEV has been launched, managed the technical support for 80 cars(independent developed system and ACP system), summarized the fault and traced FMEA.
Interpreted ISO26262 and AUTOSAR standard and defined VCU test specification of functionality safety.
Test Engineer, 2011-2012
Developed the manual break-out box based on analysis of the 16-bit VCU hardware specification.
Developed and systematized VCU automatic test bench (analyzed the test requirement according to the functionality of VCU, drafted the test plan, compared NI PCI/PXI cards and determined the selection, program the test scripts in LabVIEW and TestStand), pioneered and accomplished automatic test for 1,600 VCUs.
Analyzed GMW3172, ISO16750 and other relevant standards and then devised VCU DV/PV test guide. Eventually conducted electrical, physical, chemical, durability and IP 67 test with third parties and inspected the final test report.
Devised VCU EMC test standard based on CIPRS25, ISO10605, ISO7637; prepared the test environment with the association of third parties and accomplished VCU EMC evaluation and validated the test report.
Designed the test specification of VCU diagnosis service protocol based on ISO14230, ISO16765 and programmed KWP2000 software package.
Inspected BEV CAN Bus Network based on CAN protocol.
Developed MIL test environment for Foton PHEV control strategy.

Developed thin-film analog integrated circuits, including design of PCB in PROTEL, reviewed thin PCB production process in order to ensure the war industry quality.
Experimented and investigated sinter process in PCB production process by using vacuum sintering furnace.
Developed IC automation test programs by using JAVA.
